ABOUT SLEEPY DREAMS

Modern Blue Dots

Hello!

I’m Bernadette. I am a certified Sensitive Infant & Child Sleep Consultant, wife and mum of 4 kids (7, 4, 2, 7months). When we aren’t working you will generally find us living our best lives at the beach or somewhere outdoors!

I have had my fair share of sleep deprivation and know too well how debilitating it can be. I’ve also learned how easily a lot of sleep problems can be fixed.

After my first was born and averaging 2-3 hours of sleep a night for at least 8 months a friend recommended I talk with a sleep consultant. There and then I decided this was what I wanted to do too, to help other mum’s be well-rested and enjoy motherhood. I studied with the Institute of Sensitive Sleep to ensure that I learned the most gentle and effective way of teaching babies and young kids to sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

To help you navigate your way with us, I have popped some of the most common questions and enquiries I have been asked over the last few years about our services. If you don’t find what you’re looking for here, please contact us!

Did you use this advice on your own kids?

Yes and no. After the birth of my first daughter, I averaged approx. 3 hours of sleep per night for the first 12 months, I was lucky to be on maternity leave for 12 months and being my only child i slept when she catnapped during the day. We sleep trained her after receiving support from a sleep consultant and it changed our lives! My second was born a brilliant sleeper, although we did implement strategies from birth, such a trying to not feed to sleep and learning to self-settle from very early on. he is still (at 5 years old) a unicorn sleeper. My 3rd needed help, from when he was born again i focussed on self settling in the early months and settling in to outlines. My 4th has been much the same as my 3rd, taught early on and then haven’t had any sleep issues. Knowing she can self-settle, sleep through the night I’m much more relaxed about our routine (also having 3 older siblings keeps up out and about often), but as a general rule i keep her on the routines in this guide.

What if we need to go out for dinner/at night?

Such a common question! And yes, you are able to take your baby out for dinner if you wish. There is zero expectation you can’t be out living a normal life and enjoying a night out. If you have plans to be out after your child’s bedtime, I recommend getting them ready for bed before you go (bathe and feeding them and putting them in their pyjamas so you don’t have to do this when you get home). You can take a pram and get them to sleep, or you can nurse them, or if it was a friends or relatives home you could use a porta cot. I wouldn’t stress, i would just go with the flow and be led by your child. Some children are ok I loud spaces and will be calm, others might not be. Be prepared that your child may have a later night than usual, and they might be a little tired the next day.

What qualifications do you have?

I completed my training and became a certified Sensitive Child & Infant Sleep Consultant in 2019 through the Institute of Sensitive Sleep. I also have a bachelor’s degree in social science which has given me the opportunity to be well versed in research, people and the way people do things.

What is the refund policy?

Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds on this service.

Is this guide guaranteed to work?

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee. There are a lot of contributing factors why this guide may not be successful, this is why I have stressed being consistent throughout the guide. Knowing every child is different I have put together and have taken in as many situations as possible.

Payment takes me to a site called Beacon, is this normal?

Yes, Beacon is a sales platform that charge considerably less than many e-commerce sites, I use this to keep my costs down so I can charge customers less.

Why are your sleep guides so much cheaper than the popular ones?

I added up costs, determined that there is no editor or publisher. I wouldn’t talk in to a book store and pay near $100 for a book and don’t believe others should have to. They are currently priced to help cover my basic costs.

Are the email consults as good as the phone consults?

Yes, when I first started Sleepy Dreams I only offered phone consults, I found lots of parents became over whelmed with the information provided within a 1 hour timeframe, I trialled the email consult and received really positive feedback
